Susan Briggs, Chair; U.S. TAG to ISO TC 207 on Environmental Management

 

Susan Briggs

Susan L.K. Briggs is known nationally and internationally for her work developing and implementing Environmental Management Systems. She has worked in the aerospace/defense and research/development sectors.  Ms. Briggs was conferred the White House ‘Closing the Circle Award’ for the EMS work at Battelle’s National Laboratories.  Susan served on the ANSI-ASQ Accreditation Council between 1999 and 2011 overseeing the accreditation of certification bodies in the U.S.  Since 2010, she has chaired the U.S. Technical Advisory Group on Environmental Management, and been Chair of its EMS subcommittee since 2005.  With her US colleagues, she developed and negotiated US positions during the 2004 revision of ISO 14001 and 14004, and now leads the international working group revising ISO 14001.  Ms. Briggs is a graduate of Harvard University. She has numerous publications in technical journals.
